MuniMapz — Where to open your next business
Local economy intelligence for every U.S. ZIP code
MuniMapz is an interactive map of the United States that surfaces business opportunities
at the ZIP-code level. We combine U.S. Census Bureau demographic data (population, median
household income, age distribution, education, commute patterns, housing tenure) with
real-time business density from OpenStreetMap, then compute an Opportunity Score for
every (ZIP, business category) pair — showing you exactly where the market gaps are.
Click any ZIP marker on the map to see its population, median income, top business
categories, and the most-underserved business types. Cluster markers aggregate stats
across entire metro areas — click the New York cluster to see all of NYC's
demographics and opportunity rankings rolled up.
Ask the Advisor — premium AI business analysis
Subscribers to MuniMapz Pro ($8.99/month, includes 100 questions) can ask our AI
advisor questions like "What if I opened a ramen shop in 11211?" or "Where in NYC is
the best spot for a dental practice?" — and receive a 1-to-10 likelihood-of-success
rating with data-backed reasoning, citing the actual demographics, competitor counts,
and opportunity scores for that specific area. Additional question packs available:
10 questions for $0.99, 100 questions for $8.99.
Built on real public data
Demographic data comes from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS)
5-year estimates for all 33,000+ U.S. ZIP Code Tabulation Areas. Business data comes
from OpenStreetMap, geocoded via PostGIS spatial queries. The Opportunity Score
engine uses demand-side population and income signals weighted by category-specific
demographic fit (e.g., pharmacies index on % age 65+, bars on % age 18-34) against
supply-side business counts per capita.
